New digital foundation for the trade union of tomorrow
Monday, April 28, 2014
HK is one of the oldest trade unions in Denmark. It is also one of the most modern, focusing on digital like no other.
As one of the largest and most traditional unions, HK plays a major role in designing the future of the Danish labour market and the Danish Model. They have taken this on and work unflinchingly to be the leading trade union in terms of digital communications and services. Ultimately, it is digital development that creates the future for the working lives of HK members, whether they work in retail, take care of the administration of Denmark’s hospitals or design websites and brochures.
“It is a time of unrest and upheaval for trade unions. Traditional jobs and ways of working are being challenged by globalisation, digitalisation and streamlining. It is HK’s goal to help our members to be as strong as possible in tomorrow’s labour market. That is where our website and other digital channels play a central role,” says Michala Svane, Head of Member Communications, Marketing and HR for HK. “That is why we have also made ambitious plans for how we should act digitally.”
The new website is the hub of HP’s digital strategy and the first step in a three-year process. The site consolidates all of HK’s various units and organisations in a single platform, which is geared 100% toward the information and service needs of their members.
The solution is built on Sitecore CMS and offers a high degree of personalisation. The goal is for the site to provide each member with the specific information, offers and services that are relevant to them, without the need to know who holds the information. For the same reason, the site was created in a responsive design which automatically adjusts and can be used on smart phones, tablets and PCs without any compromise. Afterall, HK’s knowledge and information needs to be accessible to members on all devices.
