New App Brings Lotto to Mobile Phones

In close cooperation with their client, Magnetix have designed a new app for Danske Lotteri Spil A/S. On this overall platform Danes will be able to play digitally as well as enjoying a better experience with the classic coupons.

As part of an extensive digital rearmament process, Danske Lotteri Spil A/S wanted to make their master brands – Lotto, Vikinglotto, Eurojackpot and Keno – more accessible for their customers.

As well as retaining the traditional Lotto players, they wanted their otherwise strong brand to reach a younger market segment. They wanted their lottery games to be relevant and accessible to all those who did not grow up with TV draws of the week’s winning numbers.

To tackle their wishes, Magnetix came up with the new Lotto app. It is a simple platform that allows users to buy digital coupons and take part in their favourite games from their mobile phones.

Room for paper

An essential element of the new app is that it does not represent a departure from traditional Lotto players. When designing the app, the idea was to give new purchasing options the same priority as traditional forms of playing with paper coupons.

After all, Lotto also means a trip to the dealer and attaching a physical coupon to your fridge door. So the new app also lets you check the winning numbers, provides directions to your nearest dealer and scans your paper coupons for winnings.

An app was a perfect tool

An app was the perfect choice. The technology facilitated the wide range of features, which was important to Magnetix:

“An app has certain capabilities, which, say, web solutions could not provide. In addition to core features such as purchasing games and checking winnings, features include the GPS to provide directions to dealers, the camera for scanning coupons and the fingerprint reader that allows you to log in securely without the use of NemID. This enhances both the user-friendliness and the overall gaming experience,” says Buster Laursen, Technical Project Manager at Magnetix. 

The result of long-standing cooperation

Since 2015, Danske Spil have entrusted many of their digital assignments to Isobar, and subsequently Magnetix. Ever since the cooperation was initiated, the app that has now been launched had high priority in the digital strategy.
